As a stay at home mom that runs two businesses, balancing out my day consist of its fair share of compromising. Ive given up on achieving the perfect balance however Ive found comfort in the trade method. You go show a few homes with me kid then well take a break and do something fun for you. Heres 23 things to do with kids in Baltimore, a list that I keep handy so matter where I am around town I can hold up my end of the bargain.
Indoor Activities
Port Discovery – Kids get to learn, play and touch it all. This is located right above the Inner Harbor so you can easily make a day for the entire family starting here.
Visionary Art Museum – While this Museum isn’t a kids play place, its selection of exhibits always tends to keep kids intrigued starting from the mosaic glass building that its housed in.
National Aquarium – Ive never met a kid that isn’t interested in a fish of some sort. Start them off with the dolphin show. ( be prepared to be splashed 🙂 )
Senator Theatre – Our landmark theatre is a good place to keep cool and entertained.
Blacks in Wax Museum – The life-size exhibits here are always an eye opener and great conversation starters.
Reginald F. Lewis Museum – a ton of Black History under one roof.
iFLY Baltimore – Let the babies suit up and complete a form of sky diving that won’t give you a coronary. With the express attention of the staff the entire family can go for this gravity defying experience.
Sweet Side Cafe – Board games, ice cream, topping galore, cakes, cookies and arcade games…the coolest place to go in this summer heat for some amazing family time.
Storyville -We all know its the kids world but at storyville its REALLY their world. Located inside of a public Library, this town is completely constructed with everything from a supermarket where your kid can be both the customer and the cashier to a tree house where the kids can curl up with a book.
Ripleys Believe it or Not – In the mood for fun and quirky, heres your place. Fun fact are to be learned here while a lot of plain old fun is to be had.
The Science Center – Science isn’t as boring when you get to interact with it. They will have so much fun here they won’t even realize that they are leaning. Check out whats showing at the IMAX theatre while you’re there.
On The Water
Urban Pirates – The kids learn to talk, dance, and play games like a pirate, blast enemies with water cannons and navigate treacherous waters to discover vast treasure
Historic Ships – Kids love water and boats, these will take them on the journey of some great historic moments.
Cheesie Paddle Boats – If your kids enjoy being REALLY close to the water, paddle boating across the harbor will be right up their alley
Water Taxi – To experience both sides of the Harbor travel the Baltimore way, via a water taxi ride or take one of the tours the taxi offer.
Outside Activities
Oriole Game – Take them out to a ball game, take them out to the crowd, buy them some peanuts and crackerjacks….okay now I’m being cheesie lol
Irvine Nature Center – Trails, animals and fun oh my!
B&O Railroad Museum – Historic trains to see and ride (Thomas the Train even makes occasional appearances )
Street Car Museum – The kids get to take a walk and ride through the history of Baltimores’ streetcars.
Bengies Drive in Theatre – Nostalgic and just down right fun!
The Maryland Zoo – Animals and free parking, an easy family day
Sherwood Gardens – The family picnic area of Baltimore, Pack a lunch and enjoy the view.
Farmers Market & Bazaar – This is a food market but its an interesting market with many things and people to see. Shop, eat, get some local coffee, let the kids dance to the street music, hula hoop or get a quick african drum lesson.
Fells Point – So this isn’t truly Kid oriented, however with its different ch water view, people, restaurants and shops of all sorts its truly a great place to go for a nice scroll as a family
