It was 102 degrees in Baltimore today, even higher with the humidity. Ill let that marinate. You would think everyone would be wanting to sit on an ac vent while drinking ice cold water from a Ball mason jar, not my child. “Mommie I NEED donuts!” Since we were leaving her grandmothers home in East Baltimore to go home, thus already outside, I chose to accommodate…plus I wanted some ice cream. (lol). So to a Baltimore Cafe we go, SweetSide Cafe to be exact.

The patio has two sides, one covered to block the sun, family style porch seating and a giant connect four game. The other side has umbrella tables. Perfect place to share a moment with family/friends and get to meet and know neighbors.
Wrapped in Amiras’ excitement I forget to get a few shots of the place but, in short, its REALLY cool. Whats not pictured here is the wall of soft serve of all different flavors including non dairy options, and a completely separate but adjacent wall full of dispensers filled with toppings of all sorts. Its the SWEETSide, but they do serve breakfast and lunch foods as well.

Now this is the part that makes it cool for me, nostalgic even. In the seating area almost, if not all, of the tables have games on them of some sort such as checker boards and Chutes and ladders. There is one arcade game machine that has various games including PAC MAN (I’m an 80s baby, this excites me). There is a corner that houses board games of all kinds and a small play area with toys and puzzles for the small ones. The brain that developed SweetSide Cafe in my opinion is one of strong family values. That brain understands the value of good genuine face to face time and making memories with the ones you love.
SO, while todays temperature (ONE HUNDRED AND TWO degrees in case you forgot from when I mentioned it before) made it hard to remove myself from my AC, making a new memory with my lady over cookies, ice-cream, plastic “vegetable soup” and games made it more than worth it.
I’m have to check this out! Thanks for sharing!
No problem. Its a great “something for the family to do” spot.
