When Im hungry, I’m hungry. So wherever I am when I get hungry is where Im finding food. Todays appetite hit while I was in Brewers Hill. Great! I’ve been meaning to try Gunther & Co. anyway.
WE CAME

Located in the historic Gunther boiler building in Brewers Hill, part of my delay for getting here was the many spins around the block I was afraid I was going to have to take to find parking. Not the case. Parking was easy, but that could have been because I went in the middle of a weekday. They did have what seemed to be a decent amount (for the area) of dedicated parking. Upon entering we were greeted by a bubbly personality, seated and brought our water (seemingly easy steps to welcome guest, I know, but I’ve eaten out enough to know that these minor steps can be overlooked and put a sour taste in ones mouth before the actual dining experience even begins), so we were off to a decent start. Lets eat!
WE SAW
Main Dining Area Living Wall Wine Selection Wall Raw Bar
The environment was inviting! Well rounded for all types of events. Not pictured here is a T shaped bar with bartenders that seemed pretty attentive. There is a mezzanine right above the raw bar that overlooks the main dinning area and has a small room reserved for events attached to it. On our way in we spotted the patio with a great amount of seating. I can’t wait to try that out this Spring. Certainly date worthy and impressive enough for a birthday get together.
WE ATE
#1 Baby Kale Salad GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH ROSE OF ALTHEA
I do not eat pork nor beef, so that greatly put a limit on my options from the lunch menu. With that said, my chosen options were freaking TASTY! Grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, fresca fontina and pickled onions on a house made brioche bun with a side of house malt salt fries, #1 Baby Kale salad with shrimp and to drink, a Rose of Althea (non alcoholic drink). There was a twist of taste on everything, but the unexpected combinations were sophisticated, extremely tasty and made my taste buds dance. I said ” Not enough people know that Gunther has this sandwich, otherwise Popeyes and Chick-Fil-A wouldn’t have business” my date responds “how dare you bring up such trash sandwiches in the presence of this divine dish”. (eye roll) The drama lol.
All in all the atmosphere and these dishes made me create a challenge for myself to come back time and time again until I have successfully tried everything that I can on the menu. We shall return very soon Gunther!

This weekend is Baltimore City restaurant week is still in effect and Gunther & Co. is participating. A list of all of the partaking restaurants here.
